What an incredible night we had on Friday 1 April for World Autism Awareness Day! The Sydney Opera house looked spectacular in a haze of blue, while guests watched on from across the harbour at our cocktail party, Our ‘Light it up blue’ event was featured in newspapers and news reports across the world, helping to spread the message of World Autism Awareness Day to an international audience.
‘Light it up blue’ is an annual global initiative – on April 1st and 2nd a host of world famous building and landmarks we lit blue to support World Autism Awareness Day. Autism Awareness was proud to organise and host the Sydney event, where we lit the sails of the Sydney Opera House a brilliant blue in recognition of this important cause.
Autism Awareness also created a virtual ‘Light it up blue’ campaign on our website, where people could light their own blue light bulb to show their support. We are thrilled to annouce that over 3,300 blue light bulbs were lit in in less than 2 weeks!
We would like to thank everyone for supporting Autism Awareness and our Light it up blue campaign! Whether you lit your own virtual light bulb, lit your house blue, wore blue on the day, made a donation, set up your own fundraising event or spread the message of awareness in your community…. THANK YOU! Your support has made a difference and contributes to creating a better understanding and awareness of autism spectrum disorders in our community.
