Autism Awareness Australia CEO Nicole Rogerson’s autistic son was sent a letter saying he owed a $3,000 debt to Centrelink. He assumed the letter was correct, and went to pay the debt. But he didn’t have a debt. It was only with his mothers help that they realised it wasn’t correct.
“This is the situation a lot of people are going to find themselves in, if they have a disability or an intellectual disability. If you say, you owe this money and they need to pay it, they’re going to pay it,” Nicole Rogerson.
