1 In 100 Need It Funded

This election, speak up for all Australians with Autism
In all of the promises and spin of the next few weeks, it is crucial for us to make our voices heard.

Autism Awareness Australia and Country Autism Network presented the below autism policy discussion paper to both the Labor Party and the Liberal Party for a response. Our discussion paper is by no means the ideal autism policy however we feel it includes some great, easily implementable, short term measures while we wait anxiously for DisabilityCare Australia (NDIS) to be rolled out across the country.

And here are their responses

LABOR PARTY RESPONSE
LIBERAL PARTY RESPONSE

This election, while candidates are trying to win your vote, it’s time we remind them what autism is and the impact it has on Australian families.

For too long the autism community has been grossly under-funded and under-supported and we are tired of watching our children go without. We need funding for services and intervention right now.

It’s the early in early intervention that is so important. It’s effective school supports that are needed and it’s genuine transition to work programs that will change lives.

The promise of the NDIS is encouraging, and like the rest of the nation, we are waiting with anticipation to see it come into effect. But our community cannot afford to wait until then.

We need to remind our politicians that 1 in 100 need it funded and we need it now!

Will you join us? It’s time to speak up for all Australians with autism.
